Glidevale Protect: Performance Through Partnership

In construction, capability is rarely achieved alone. It happens when manufacturers, designers, and contractors come together around shared goals, building better by design.
That’s exactly what Offsite Alliance member Glidevale Protect have demonstrated in their latest collaboration with Oakworth Construction at the Matlock Road development in Derbyshire.
A coordinated approach to performance

At the heart of the project’s success is a fabric-first mindset. Nine individually designed four-bedroom family homes were constructed using pre-insulated panels manufactured at Oakworth Timber Engineering’s Sheffield factory. This approach ensured precision, reduced waste, and embedded performance at every stage.
To support this, Glidevale Protect supplied a range of high-performance membranes that worked together to deliver superior energy efficiency, durability, and long-term protection.
Protect TF200 Thermo, a reflective external wall breather membrane, was integrated into Oakworth’s Varytherm timber frame system, boosting thermal performance and helping achieve exceptionally low U-values.
Protect TF200, a non-reflective breather membrane, was applied to spandrel panels, providing weather protection and reducing interstitial condensation risk during construction.
Protect VP200, a high-performance, vapour-permeable roofing underlay, was installed across all roofs to minimise the risk of roof-space condensation, in line with BS 5250 standards.
The result: an average through-wall U-value of 0.16 W/m²K, supporting homes that exceed current building regulations and deliver carbon emissions at least 35% lower than notional benchmarks.
Local delivery, national lessons
The project also demonstrates the strength of regional supply chains and collaboration. Located close to Glidevale Protect’s manufacturing facility in Pinxton, the site benefited from reduced transport distances and faster delivery times, another example of how local manufacturing supports both environmental and economic sustainability.
Liberty Roofing, a long-term Glidevale Protect partner, supplied and installed the Protect VP200 roofing underlay, ensuring performance consistency from specification to completion.
“Working with Glidevale Protect and specifying the right reflective membrane product for this project has been instrumental in helping us achieve the high standards of energy efficiency required for this development,” said Jon Rees, Operations Director at Oakworth Construction. “Protect TF200 Thermo integrates seamlessly into our timber frame system, supporting our commitment to sustainable, low-carbon construction.”
Matt Neary, Product Manager at Glidevale Protect, added:
“Through our involvement at the Matlock Road development, we’ve demonstrated our commitment to delivering innovative, high-performance solutions that meet market demands and stringent standards, positioning us as a trusted partner in modern housing development.”
Proof that collaboration delivers
The project at Matlock Road isn’t just an example of good design, it’s a demonstration of what capability looks like in practice.
By aligning product innovation, offsite manufacturing, and a shared commitment to energy efficiency, the team delivered homes that perform as well as they look.
It’s exactly the kind of story that shows construction isn’t just evolving, it’s growing up.
At the Offsite Alliance, we’re proud to have members like Glidevale Protect setting the standard for what partnership, performance, and purpose look like when they work together.
Because capability isn’t a product, it’s a collaboration.
