Tenmat releases first in a series of EPDs for passive fire protection product rangeReflecting its commitment to total product transparency, Tenmat is delighted to share its first EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) for the Tenmat FF102 products – FF102/25, VFB Plus, VFB 120/120 – in accordance with ISO 14025 and 21930.
The Tenmat manufacturing process starts with sourcing essential raw ingredients and bringing them to its Irlam site where they are mixed, formed, cut, and packaged into individual products. Not only is this in-house manufacturing process excellent practice in terms of sustainability, but also means that Tenmat retains complete control over its manufacturing process to ensure its intumescent products meet stringent performance and safety standards before shipping. The 60 year service life of Tenmat barriers further reduces the environmental impact of crucial passive fire protection systems. Tenmat has announced that more EPDs for its other product ranges will be released in the near future.

Tenmat’s Global Product Manager, Chris Thompson, said of the EPD, “We’re happy to be able to share our latest EPD covering our key cavity barrier products that furthers our continued commitment to providing 3rd party verified, credible and transparent information to the market. This will allow our customers and key stakeholders to make informed and environmentally conscious decisions from a life cycle perspective when selecting cavity fire barriers. This sustainability information gives further choice to specifiers over and above our already extensive range of 3rd party and CCPI verified fire test data and product information.”
